To maintain the distinctiveness of the Laurina coffee, it is grown at an elevation of 4,000 feet, hand-picked, pulped, and carefully dried in a particular drying facility. Because it tastes distinct from most arabica coffees, people consider it a unique coffee. However, because it is a specific coffee that needs adequate care, it is challenging to grow. Simply defined, coffee that has been depulped but left to dry in its mucilage the gooey fruit layer that resides just beneath the coffee cherry's skin or pulp—is honey washed.
